About the Product
Propper BDUs are sewn to military specification MIL-T-44047E and feature six pockets, four of which have button flaps. Both seat and knee are double-reinforced and this trouser also has felled inseams, outseams and seat seams for durability and to reduce side puffing. Other features include fused pocket flaps, a four-button fly, adjustable waist tabs with 4 bar tacks and drain holes in the Bellows pockets. The nylon drawstring leg closures are fused, knottted, and tacked.

Fabric/Style:
Tactical uniform fabrics must be comfortable, durable and have excellent color integrity. To achieve this criteria, Propper is proud to provide Battle Rip. This is an all-season weight, 65% polyester / 35% cotton fabric manufactured in a ripstop weave. Battle Rip is our fabric of choice for the public safety community.

The Space Shuttle: Extraordinary Challenges for Science

The unique challenges of peopled spaceflight have been the source of inspiration in design, computer programming, telephony and the life sciences. Perhaps one of the most consistently amazing features of the global effort to put humans into outerspace is the originality of space craft design.

Mission Information
First flight of the orbiter Challenger. First Tracking and Data Relay Satellite deployed on the first day of the mission. First "spacewalk" of the Shuttle program successfully performed by Peterson and Musgrave. EVA lasted four hours 17 minutes. Space Shuttle Challenger landed April 9, at 10:53 AM PST at Edwards Air Force Base, CA. Mission duration: five days, 24 minutes, 32 seconds. Challenger traveled 2 million miles in 80 orbits.

First crew of four on an American spacecraft and first use of mission specialists. Space Shuttle Columbia landed at Edwards Air Force Base, CA on November 16 at 6:33 AM PST. Mission duration was five days, two hours, 14 minutes, 25 seconds. Traveled 2 million miles in 81 orbits.

The Space Shuttle: Extraordinary Challenges for Science

Mission Information
Final Space Transportation System research and development flight. In addition to classified Department of Defense payload, cargo included first Get Away Specials, (G-001) which contained nine experiments from Utah State University; first commercial experiment involving Continuous Flow Electrophoresis System (CFES); Monodisperse Latex Reactor (MLR); Induced Environment Contamination Monitor (IECM), which was deployed, and two Shuttle Student Involvement Program (SSIP) experiments. Crew rock data for two medical experiments on themselves, operated remote manipulator arm to swing IECM around orbiter, and took photos of lightning activity in Earth's atmosphere. Two solid rocket booster casings lost when main parachutes failed and they impacted water and sank. Some rainwater penetrated protective coating of several tiles while orbiter on pad. On orbit, affected area turned toward sun and water vaporized, preventing further tile damage from freezing water.

Continued testing of Space Shuttle systems for qualification for operational flight. Measurement of thermal response of the orbiter in various altitudes to the sun. Nine OSS-1 (Office of Space Scheice) experiments were flown. First student experiment was flown. Landing site was changed from Edwards Air Force Base to Northrop Strip, White Sands, NM, due to wet conditions at Edwards. The mission was extended one day due to high winds at Northrop. Landed March 30, after a flight lasting eight days, give minutes. Traveled 3.3 million miles in 129 orbits.

This was the first time that a manned spaceship was reflown with a second crew. The flight was cut from its planned duration of five days because of the failure of one of the three fuel cells that produced electricity and drinking water. The Remote Manipulator System was tested for the first time. Mission scientists were satisfied with the data from "earth-looking" experiments in the payload bay. Space Shuttle Columbia landed November 14, at 1:23 PM EST, at Edwards Air Force Base, CA. Mission duration was two days, six hours, 13 minutes and 12 seconds.

Propper's Battle Rip ACU is constructed of 65% polyester / 35% cotton ripstop fabric, treated with DuPont Teflon for liquid and stain resistency. All pockets and pouches are consistent with military specifications. The F5470 does not have hook and loop patches. Available in Woodland Digital, Subdued Digital and Desert Digital.
